Beatriz Mejía, our founder, has dedicated her life to promoting peace building and sustainable development in Latin America and the world through sports. Her inspiring vision and commitment have been fundamental to the creation and growth of our organization. She is a consultant for the International Platform
Sportanddev.org and a member of the
Colombian Olympic Academy, where she leads the area of Sport and Peace. She has also developed important collaborations with the Ministry of Sport in Colombia and the Olympic Academy of Guatemala, as well as the GC1 in Mexico. She holds a Master’s degree in Government and Public Policy and a Master’s degree in Development Studies, with professional studies in Business as her basic training. He has published in international scientific journals on the topics of peace building and sport for social change. In the past, she has been part of the government sector in Colombia, contributing to the peace process and working with victims, ex-combatants and youth at risk of armed violence. Her main personal recognitions are Mujer Eva Award, Peacebuilding Category (Miami, USA) in 2019, and Profile Forces of Change II, Recognizing the Contribution of Latin American and Caribbean Women to Disarmament UNITED NATIONS – LIREC, 2014. She is currently the Executive Director in Colombia and serves on the Board of Directors of GIP’s divisions in Colombia, the United States and Switzerland.
